Montane at Keswick Mountain Festival 2022

The UK’s premier mountain festival returns this month. As official sponsors of the BMC Skills tent, we’ll be helping to provide an action-packed itinerary of adventure-fuelled fun.

Keswick Mountain Festival takes place 20th to 22nd May and promises a fantastic weekend for outdoor enthusiasts based in the heart of the Lake District National Park. Now in its 15th year, the festival combines a whole host of sporting events, from cycle rides to triathlons and hikes, alongside exhibitions from outdoor brands (including us here at Montane), live music, tasty food stalls and inspiring talks from a range of athletes.

Throughout the weekend we’ll be available to chat on our dedicated stall, so do come over to ask us any questions you may have, or to simply say hello! Alongside our friendly team, we’re offering participants who attend the opportunity to win Montane kit - ideal for upcoming summer adventures.

BMC Skills Tent & #TeamMontane Talks

As part of the event, Montane will be returning with the BMC this year to host a number of skills sessions set to test visitors’ navigation skills, vigour, and emergency responses.

Montane athletes Jenny Tough, Jordan Wylie and Katy Parrott will also be in attendance, providing inspiring talks. Jenny recently completed her multi-stage challenge ‘Run the World’s Mountains’ and will be reflecting on her experiences as part of this. Jordan is currently taking on his ‘Running Dangerously’ expedition, which involves him taking on marathons in some of the most inhospitable places on the planet. Alongside hosting an interactive challenge at the Montane stall (more on that below) Katy will also be delivering a talk about her ‘comeback from injury’, including taking on one of the world’s earliest coldest ultra runs earlier this year.

If all that wasn’t enough, we will also round off the activities on Saturday by partnering with the BMC to host the not-to-be-missed BMC & Montane Mountain Pub Quiz.

A unique challenge for everyone

On Saturday (21st May), Montane athlete and participant of the BBC’s series Special Forces, Katy Parrott will be challenging guests to replicate her training for the Montane Lapland Arctic Ultra. This will involve navigating a slalom course, whilst manoeuvring a 4 x 4 tyre (known fondly as Tyrone), attached to a harness.

Though the minus temperatures and battering cold winds Katy endured in Sweden are not expected at this spring event, the challenge aims to provide an insight into Katy’s training schedule for this unique and challenging arctic event.

Sound good? We’ll see you there!
