Montane unveils a brutal new winter ultra endurance event in the heart of Northumberland, UK.
Montane is pleased to announce official headline sponsorship of the
Montane Cheviot Goat Winter Ultra.
Starting and finishing in the village of Ingram, Northumberland, the Montane Goat is the first non-stop race of its kind to cover the Cheviot Hills. Considered to be one of the last true wild places left in England, the Cheviots are a sprawling hill range straddling the Anglo-Scottish border with one of the lowest population densities recorded anywhere in the UK.
The Montane Goat will test even the most experienced ultra runner. 55 miles of the harshest winter trails, 9,500 ft of lung-bursting ascent including the highest summit - the Cheviot - standing at 2,674 ft. Throw into the mix the unpredictable Northumberland weather that includes everything from deep snow, ice, gale force winds and torrential rain and competitors will be tested physically and mentally.
Add to this the fact that the Montane Goat is non-waymarked and unsupported with a start time of 05:30 GMT in the Northumbrian village of Ingram; the inaugural Montane Goat promises to be a challenge like no other.

The Montane Cheviot Goat Winter Ultra will be the latest addition to an illustrious set of Montane sponsored ultra endurance events across the world. From the world famous Montane Tor des Géants in the unforgiving Italian Alps to the -40°C temperatures of the Montane Yukon Arctic Ultra and the iconic Montane Lakeland 100 & 50 ultra tour, these events reflect Montane’s passion for not only producing the highest quality clothing and equipment, but also its desire to enable athletes to test themselves to their absolute limits.
